Susan A. Simmons, Ph.D.
Summary Bio-Sketch Susan A. Simmons, Professor of Business Administration at The Citadel, Charleston, SC, holds the Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mississippi. The areas of concentration in the doctoral program include Quantitative Methods, Health Care Administration, Managerial Economics, Economic Theory, and Managerial Accounting. She is the author of Internet Resources for Managers, published by DAME Publications, Inc., a Subsidiary of International Thompson in 2000. The book forms the basis for both graduate and undergraduate elective courses at The Citadel. The book is supplemented by a web site, http://www.citadel.edu/faculty/simmons, an Instructor's Manual, as well as by on-line course materials developed with WebCT software. WebCT software supports courses offered via the Internet. Internet Resources for Managers is the first and, currently, the only online course offered in the AACSB-Accredited MBA program at The Citadel. Professor Simmons is senior author on a book, Internet Resources for International Business published by Prentice-Hall Publishers, Inc. in 2001. The book provides Internet exercises and WWW resources in all arenas of global management, marketing, accounting, quality control, economics, and finance. Beginning December 2001, Dr. Simmons became webmaster for The School of Business Administration's web site. In Spring 2002 she was appointed as Director of Business Web Site Development for the School of Business Administration. The web site located at http://www.citadel.edu/badm/ was named Web Site of the Week by South Carolina Business Review in October 2002. Professor Simmons served as the Director of the Center of Business and Economic Research at Sam Houston State University. In that role, she was Editor of the Journal of Business Strategies--a refereed journal. Professor Simmons research activity has resulted in more than 30 published journal articles. She has published in the American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy, Management International Review, Administration and Policy Journal, Journal of Affective Disorders, Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Journal of Business Research, among others. Professor Simmons has presented more than 40 papers, including research papers presented at annual meetings of the American Economic Association and National Decision Sciences Institute. Support of professional organizations is demonstrated
by her active role. She has served in elected officer positions in Southeast
Decision Sciences Institute and Southeast INFORMS. In addition, she has
served as a reviewer for National Decision Sciences Institute, Southeast
Decision Sciences Institute, Southwest Decision Sciences Institute and
Southeast INFORMS.
