non-profit501(c)(3) organization of over 225
members.
Background on Charleston
Foreign Affairs Forum
The Charleston
Foreign Affairs Forum was founded in the early 1980s and operated for 20
years under the name Foreign Affairs Forum. A reception precedes the
speaker's presentation and a lively interchange between speaker and audience
takes place afterward.
In recent years we have met at the
Riverview Room at The Citadel, an
institutional member of our organization.
The Charleston Foreign Affairs Forum, a
member of the World Affairs
Councils of America, is made up of a diverse group of people,
including numerous college professors, former ambassadors and officials of
federal agencies, many of the financial and legal professionals in the area,
political figures, retired military. Also among its members are a number of
former, very senior Executives, some of whom are retirees from Fortune 500
companies. It is comprised of a broad cross section, roughly equal in terms
of males and females and of Democrats and Republicans. Clearly, this is a
membership of opinion leaders in the community and the surrounding resort
communities, which have attracted new and vital people to our area.
