I think learning is best when a combination of both text and discussion is used. Students are individuals and each has preferred methods of study. The best way to accommodate each student, allowing them to perform at their best, is to be diverse in teaching methods. I feel keeping students interested and motivated is crucial in learning. By applying the material to everyday use, tying the material into the students’ own experiences, and putting the students in an active classroom setting where students are free to discuss material and to challenge ideas will acquire this interest and motivation.

I do not believe education is just the process of learning facts. Education is the process of learning how to learn and apply information. As an educator my focus is to teach the students how to learn and analyze information so that they have the opportunity to succeed in today’s world. Social skills such as how to learn, how to function socially, and how to manage time and stress are important in today’s world. I want to reach out and show them what is ahead for them and prepare them for it.
