Your Intelligence Makeover:
An Easy Way to Learn All You Need to Know
by Ed Droge, Ed.D
Importance of Making Knowledge Accessible
- google 'accessible knowledge'
- 64 million responses
- knowledge - obtained without
undue insuperable obstruction
- unknowledge - not obtained
- overlap, relativity - knowledge
is accessible to some while at the same time inaccessible to others
- i.e., ancient civilizations
(insuperable obstruction - while right now information cannot be found,
it might become found)
Undue Obstruction of Learner, Knowledge
- Structure
- some knowledge (i.e., the
Internet) is without structure
- knowledge needs to be separated/categorized
(i.e., bookstore/library)
- Direction
- goals and paths are not viable
- Self
- intrapersonal intelligence
(how much one knows oneself)
- lack of confidence, skills,
& motivation
- individual learning styles
(i.e., visual learners)
- Volume
- size, time (i.e., Internet
responses can be overwhelming, not enough time)
- Density
- Prerequisite
- need course X before course
Y
- Environment
- learner in room with distractions
- temperature in classroom
- Teaching
- teachers present obstacles
to the learner
- (i.e., using poor techniques,
assigning too much work to be accomplished, not speaking loud enough,
bad hand writing)
- best intentions mat still
create inaccessible knowledge
Visual, structured forms can make knowledge more accessible
Subjective pronoun/ Objective pronoun
I..................................Me
We.............................Us
She............................Her
They..........................Them
- There is nothing wrong with
obstacles. However, undue obstruction (or unnecessary obstacles) do not
need to be present.
- Both sides must be aware
to get the material across. The teaching community must stop and think about
these things.
Increase reading speed
- an obstacle - too much volume
- i.e., five teachers each assigning
one book/ week
- giant obstacle, overwhelming
- when we learn to read, we make
an eyestop (i.e., 12 words, 12 eyestops)
- train yourself to see more
than one word at a time
- this is possible to accomplish
(train yourself through practicing - same as a violin)
- if you train yourself
to read three words at a time, you have tripled your reading speed
- the need led to the method
- attacked one of the problems (volume - size and time)
