DISSERTATION1982-1989 Assistant to the Dean of Undergraduate StudiesResponsible for overseeing the operation of The Citadel's largest academic department (majors account for 34% of undergraduate student body); supervise a staff of twenty-two full- and part-time faculty members plus two secretaries; develop teaching schedules, oversee all administrative and budget activities, and represent the department on Academic Board. Lead successful multi-year effort to become North America’s first AACSB-accredited Department (as opposed to School or College) of Business Administration.Served as the academic administration's liaison with the student body. Counseled students about major changes, course selection, academic standards; directed the freshman orientation program; coordinated the company academic advisor program; supervised staff of cadet academic officers. Was also responsible for student retention program and class absence system; served as liaison with military departments and Commandant's office.
